The Onesquethaw-Coeymans Creek
From its source in the Helderberg Mountains to its confluence with
the Hudson River, the scenic Onesquethaw-Coeymans creek meanders 19 miles
from Helderberg Lake in Berne, through southern Albany County crossing the
towns of New Scotland, Bethlehem, and Coeymans.

Helderberg Lake
The Creek is
an important natural resource, supporting a high diversity of plants and animals,
and feeds the Vly Creek Reservoir, a water supply for the Town of Bethlehem.
The watershed also supports many private wells used for drinking water and
agriculture.
The surrounding watershed is also rich in cultural resources. Historic buildings
and Native American artifacts found in the area are reminders of Albany’s
diverse history. The stream corridor also provides many recreational opportunities
including trout fishing, hiking, and spelunking.
